The CPMR CORE Group brings together CPMR Members and practitioners to work on Cohesion policy related issues. Created in 2011 to anticipate the Cohesion legislative package negotiations for 2014 – 2020, the CORE group is the forum in which CPMR members discuss and structure CPMR Cohesion policy objectives and activities.
The work of the group is based on regular meetings, analysis, technical notes and positions papers, as well as, dedicated meetings with the EU institutions and other specialised organisations and experts. Technical assistance is provided by the CPMR secretariat regarding specific analysis, statistics and maps.
The CORE Group now focuses on Cohesion Policy reform for the post – 2020 period, and in particular on the following subjects:
- A well-resourced Cohesion policy for all Regions
- A reinforced and legitimised role for Regions within Cohesion Policy
- The role and impact of financial instruments
- Reducing the administrative burden and simplifying the policy
The CORE group is made up of CPMR Political Bureau Members and the presidents of CPMR Geographical Commissions, although other regions can participate in meetings of particular interest to them.
