The Port Authority of Livorno, together with the Italian Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport and the Regional Government of Tuscany, is investing in a new commercial dock (“Darsena Europa”) for improving its capacity and offering a solid Mediterranean logistic platform, fully integrated into the Trans-European Transport Network.
Investments in this region are extremely important with huge perspectives for boosting growth and commercial opportunities, offering a new occasion to investors, ship-owners and logistic operators. In view of the launching of an international call for tender, the Tuscany Region Brussels office organised a debate on Tuesday 15th September 2015 in the presence of Enrico Rossi, President of Tuscany and Vice-President of the CPMR.
David Sassoli, Vice-President of the European Parliament attended the debate, as well as Isabelle Ryckbost, Secretary General of the European Sea Ports Organisation, Patrick Verhoeven Secretary General of the European Community Shipowners’ Association and Lamia Kerdjoudj Belkaid, Secretary General of the Federation of European Private Port Operators.
After his concluding speech, President Enrico Rossi highlighted that “to be competitive, Livorno harbour must be 20 metres deep. This is necessary to be competitive in our continent and in a globalised world”. Enrico Rossi also recalled “Tuscany’s willingness to contribute to growth and jobs in Europe and to the EU project, despite those who want to see our continent weaker and more divided”.
