The CPMR has joined the Steering Committee of TP Ocean – the European Technology and Innovation Platform for ocean energy.

TP Ocean is a recognised advisory body to the European Commission and is part of the EU’s main Research and Innovation policy, the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan).

The SET-Plan directs or inputs to most of the European Commission’s R&I funding and financing programmes, such as Horizon 2020, Life or the European Investment Bank’s InnovFin products.

The SET-Plan also maintains very close ties with the research authorities of European Union member countries. It aims to create more cohesion and coordination among the different national research programmes and European funds.

CPMR Secretary General, Eleni Marianou, will sit on the TP Ocean Steering Committee, which is being created to help to increase links between industrial stakeholders and research providers.

As well as the CPMR, the committee is also made up of leading ocean energy companies, research organisations and other key stakeholders, and will give TP Ocean strategic direction and advice on priorities.

As a member of the Steering Committee, the CPMR will be asked to give input on TP Ocean’s work plan and activities, advise on experts that can help prepare, develop, or inform TP Ocean activities and deliverables, and comment on key deliverables.
