The CPMR and its Balkan and Black Sea Commission (BBSC) will take part in the International Conference on Fisheries and Blue Growth (Identifying the Perspectives of Fisheries and Stimulating the Blue Growth in the Black Sea Region), on 31 October – 1 November 2017, in Istanbul.

This high-profile conference is being organised by the Permanent International Secretariat (PERMIS) of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), in cooperation with the Sariyer Municipality of Istanbul.

The conference will debate the main issues affecting fisheries management, assess the environmental and socio-economic impact on fisheries and aquaculture and encourage cooperation between the private and public sectors on the above issues.

It will bring together representatives of the BSEC Member States and its related bodies, observers, sectoral dialogue partners and international organisations. Representatives from Black Sea municipalities, academic communities, NGOs and the private sector will also participate.

The CPMR, which has sectoral dialogue partner status with BSEC for several years and recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, will take part in this event and focus on ‘Sustainable Aquaculture as a Component of Blue Growth – the Regional Strategic Perspective’, as well as on the role of Local Authorities and their cooperation with Fishing Sector.
