In order to explore how the EU funds can support the maritime economy and Blue Growth, DG MARE, in collaboration with the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), is organising a conference on “Blue.invest – EU support to maritime regions”.
This event will allow maritime regions from across the EU to explain how they plan to use EU funds, including the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), to boost jobs and growth in the maritime sectors. It will also give them a chance to team up with other maritime regions and consider coordinating initiatives across borders and sectors, allowing them to reap synergies and save money.
The Conference, held in Brussels on 22 September 2015, will be opened by Karmenu VELLA, Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, together with Vasco CORDEIRO President of the CPMR and the Regional Government of the Azores (PT).
National and Regional administrations, EU institutions, interested stakeholders and NGOs are invited to participate in the discussions.
The European Parliament will be represented by Gesine MEISSNER, Chair of the EP Intergroup “Seas, Islands, Rivers and Coastal Areas.
The work will be divided into three different sessions, namely “Maritime investments and a cross-cutting priority”, “Tapping into blue growth opportunities: marine renewable energy and maritime industries”, and “Boosting blue growth: marine living resources”
