Regions making up the CPMR’s Intermediterranean Commission (IMC) will gather at its Political Bureau on 1 February to discuss key issues including the Blue Economy in the Mediterranean and Migration.

The Government of Catalonia will host the IMC Political Bureau in Barcelona, at the premises of the Union for the Mediterranean.

As well as the IMC Regions involved in the Bureau, the meeting will bring together representatives of the European Commission (DG MARE) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

Debates during the meeting will particularly focus on the forthcoming West Med maritime initiative and the perspectives for Blue Economy in the Mediterranean, as well as on migration issues.

Member regions will also discuss the main lines of work for the IMC Action Plan 2017-2018 and a political declaration addressing Maritime issues, together with other key themes for Mediterranean regions such as the Neighbourhood Policy, Territorial Integrated Development, Socio Economic-Cohesion, Energy, Water and Transports.

On the morning of 1 February, the IMC Regions will also gather for the meeting of the Working Group on “Territorial cooperation and Macro regional strategies” to discuss the main activities and projects for the years to come.

Finally, on 2 February the IMC members will join the Stakeholder conference – Towards an initiative for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the Western Mediterranean, conveying their ideas for the process and future actions that could be undertaken.
