The European Week of Regions and Cities take places from 9 – 12 October 2017 in Brussels.

This is an annual Brussels-based four-day event during which officials from regions and cities, as well as experts and academics, can exchange good practices in the field of regional and urban development.

It is also an acknowledged platform for political communication in relation to the development of EU Cohesion policy, raising the awareness of decision-makers about the fact that regions and cities matter in EU policy-making.

The CPMR will be participating in several events related to Cohesion Policy:

Improving the communication of ESI funds: the way forward (registration still open!) 10 October 2017, 17h00-18h30 Venue: CPMR, Rond-Point Schuman 14, Brussels

Organisers: CPMR and Calabria Region

Description: The objective of the workshop is to share experience from the ground regarding the implementation of communication activities related ESI Funds and exchange views on options for post 2020. The discussion will intertwine the experiences of regions and the European Commission.

10 October 2017, 14:30-17:00 Description: Interreg projects strengthen understanding across borders between people from regions, cities, universities, businesses and civil society. The Interreg North-West Europe Programme wants to explore how these concrete joint actions in projects can affect and stimulate EU cohesion

Cohesion Policy at stake: why will we still need it? (moderated by CPMR secretariat)

11 October 2017, 14:30 – 17:00 Description: This event will cover the role to be played by regions and cities in the future Cohesion Policy considering their commitment to the European values: how can we implement it to address a policy change that can support and strengthen the European project?

Towards more effective EU Regional Policy (moderated by CPMR secretariat)

11 October 2017, 14:30-16:45 Description: The event will address the added value of Cohesion Policy across diverse regions, the strategic challenges facing the policy and an analysis on the future of different aspects of the policy from the different regions.
