At the CPMR Transport Working Group meeting, held in early October, Frédéric Versini, Deputy Head of Unit for the Transeuropean Network (TEN-T) in DG MOVE, gave an overall picture of the implementation of the CEF.

The CEF is a key EU funding instrument to promote growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted infrastructure investment at European level.

Mr Versini also updated members on the stages of preparation for the next programming period for the policy, which is a priority for the CPMR and its regions.

The calls for 2016 CEF projects were launched in October. Mr Versini, and his colleagues in charge of shipping, motorways of the sea, financial instruments and freight services, outlined the priorities of the calls for projects.

The Transport meeting also gave members the opportunity to contribute to the political position of the CPMR on transport, which will be discussed at the General Assembly in the Azores.
