On behalf of the Dutch Government, the Confederation of Netherlands’ Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW) and the Province of Flevoland are organising a Conference on “Marker Wadden, New island archipelago in the Netherlands“. The event will be held in Brussels on Tuesday, 26 January in the House of the Dutch Provinces.

The Marker Wadden is a lake situated next to the capital and business centre of Amsterdam and can be turned into a vivid place for recreation and nature experience. Marker Wadden enhances the business climate by improving the living environment and recreation. Putting the Natura 2000 site Markermeer in a favourable condition will unlock investment opportunities for entrepreneurs, whose business cases will bestrengthened by the more attractive nature.

Programme:

  • Welcome by Michiel Rijsberman, Vice King’s Commissioner of the Province of Flevoland
  •  Presentation: “The Marker Wadden” by Roel Posthoorn, Natuurmonumenten
  •  Pitch: European dimensions of the project by Mark Demesmaeker, Member of European Parliament and rapporteur Biodiversity strategy 2030.
  •  Pitch: “The economic value added of nature restoration” Marnix Koopmans, Secretary Green Growth, Transport and Infrastructure, VNO-NCW.

Time: 17.00 -18.00 brief presentations followed by a reception
