The CPMR encourages:

The stimulation of maritime investments related to regional Smart Specialisation Strategies and European funds that are likely to contribute to them (Structural and Investment Funds (ESI), Horizon 2020 and others). In relation to this, CPMR is stimulating exchanges between the maritime Regions, socio-economic actors and EU institutions.

This is carried out at EU and sea basin levels with CPMR Geographical Commissions.  For further information on corresponding activities carried out by the CPMR Geographical Commissions: Atlantic Arc CommissionBaltic Sea CommissionBalkan and Black Sea CommissionNorth Sea Commission.

RIS3 Maritime Dimension

The Sea holds strong potential for economic growth in Europe. The European Union’s investment potential in this area is largely dependent on the mobilisation of regional policy, which is the EU’s main investment Policy. The CPMR has analysed this potential by looking at the maritime dimension of 112 Research and Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3), which guide investments related to regional policy.
