CPMR Newsletter: 26 February 2018
The CPMR Newsletter’s first edition in 2018 features our reaction to the European Commission’s proposals for post-2020 Cohesion policy, an update on our meeting with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, to discuss Brexit’s impact on regions, a look ahead at our upcoming Political Bureau, and the latest information on our actions regarding maritime affairs, accessibility and climate change.
CPMR Newsletter: 15 December 2017
This edition of the Newsletter, published in December 2017, features our meeting with President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, to call for a stronger post 2020 Cohesion policy, as well our Brexit meeting in Cardiff where our member regions signed the important Cardiff Declaration, calling for continued cooperation between UK and European regions. There are also updates from our General Assembly, held in Helsinki, as well as information on our work on maritime affairs, accessibility and climate change and energy.
CPMR Newsletter: 06 October 2017
The October 2017 edition of the CPMR Newsletter, published in advance of the CPMR General Assembly in Helsinki, leads with an article on what’s planned for the major event on 18-20 October. There is also update on our involvement in a new EU Cohesion Alliance, as well as the events we will be taking part in during the European week of Regions and Cities 2017. From a maritime perspective, we highlight the visit of the President of our Fisheries Group to Hauts de France and Sicily, and our Accessibility update focuses on our involvement in a major EU conference to discuss the Connecting Europe Facility. Finally, on Climate Change there is an update on our Climate Task Force meeting to discuss the ‘Clean Energy Package’.

This edition of the CPMR Newsletter, published in June 2017, highlights the CPMR’s wide ranging activities and updates on Cohesion policy, including a meeting with EU Regional Policy Commissioner, Corina Creţu. It also features a number of blog from our Member regions on our ‘Future of Europe’ Reflection, including the role of regions in relation to migration, funding mechanisms, the Single Market and territorial cohesion. There is also news about our key activities on issues related to maritime affairs, accessibility and climate change.
CPMR Newsletter: 19 April 2017
The April 2017 edition highlights the CPMR’s new ‘Reflection on the future of Europe’, including the aims of the initiative and the launch of our unique Forum for discussion. It also focuses on the CPMR’s response to Brexit. There are updates on the CPMR’s involvement in key discussions on the outermost regions, our reaction to the EU’s Valetta Declaration on maritime transport, and an update on our next steps on maritime investments. The Newsletter also features information about the launch of the CPMR’s new Climate Task Force, and highlights key upcoming events for our member regions across Europe.

The first edition of 2017 focuses on a range of CPMR activities, including its brainstorming session with Dg MARE on fisheries and aquaculture, and its discussion on the future of Cohesion Policy with Marc Lemaître, Director General for Regional Policy at Dg REGIO. It also features updates on a number of EU projects that include the CPMR, as well as information on the General Assembly meetings for CPMR’s Intermediterranean, Atlantic Arc and Islands Commissions.

This edition highlights the decisions made at the CPMR General Assembly 2016, which took place in the Azores (Portugal). The Newsletter contains updates on agreed positions from the meeting on Cohesion, Maritime Affairs, and Accessibility, as well as the CPMR discussions on the future of the EU. It also features an update on the CPMR’s presentation at the European Parliament on the vision for Cohesion policy after 2020, and updates from the work of the CPMR’s Geographical Commissions.
