Ms Christiana Kalogirou, Regional Governor of North Aegean (Greece) and President of the Balkan & Black Sea Commission, participated in the 4th annual High-Level Black Sea Stakeholder Conference on blue economy in the Black Sea, held on 15 September 2017, in Batumi (Georgia).

Speaking at the conference’s session on ‘Sustainable blue growth: Leadership exchange’, the BBSC President referred to the CPMR’s experience and knowledge regarding Blue Growth at pan-European level, and highlighted the added value of its BBSC in the wider Black Sea area, a region with challenges, but also great potential.

The BBSC President called for collaboration between the different stakeholders involved, in order to boost economic development in the wider region.

During her visit to Batumi, President Kalogirou also met with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Ambassador Zurab Pataradze. Following this meeting, the CPMR General Secretariat is aiming to establish closer cooperation in the future with this Georgian Region.
