The CPMR North Sea Commission Executive Committee met in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, on March 14-15 to discuss strategic issues such as the process for developing the post-2020 North Sea Region strategy and the action plan 2018-2019 which guides the thematic working groups of the NSC.

The ExCom also appointed Region Västra Götaland (SE) to continue as host of the NSC Secretariat from June 2018 until the end of 2021.

The CPMR Secretariat and the Interreg North Sea Region Secretariat gave updates on the future multi financial framework (MFF) and cohesion policy as well as the state of play of the Interreg programme.

The host region, Schleswig-Holstein, gave a presentation on the Interreg NS project “Northern Connections”, a partnership of 21 clusters, cities, regions and knowledge institutions working together to create innovation connections between enterprises and clusters in the energy sector.

The members of the ExCom also visited GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, one of the world’s leading institutes in the field of marine sciences.
